JerseyCat Usage

1. What must my library do to join JerseyCat?

To join JerseyCat the following forms must be completed and returned
to Scherelene Schatz, Library Development Bureau, NJ State Library, PO Box 520, Trenton, NJ 08625.

A. JerseyCat Participating Agreement
B. Local System Data Profile for Union Database Participants (if your library will be part of the union catalog—not a Z39.50 target).
Send your library’s MARC records to Auto-Graphics if you will be part of the union catalog.

It is also required that each participating library send at least one interlibrary loan staff member to a training session in June or July. School librarian training and new staff member sessions will be held throughout the summer, September, and October.

Yes, you can do a broadcast search of the union catalog and up to ten Z39.50 target catalogs .

6. How often is a library required to update our records in the union catalog?

7. Can the interlibrary loan form be edited at the local library level?
No. The interlibrary loan form is a global form and requires the same information at all locations. However, additional fields may be added to the form if the majority of libraries are in need of the field.

Yes. Each library may choose which library catalogs they want to make available for their patrons and staff.
